Assemblyman Schmitt bet Rushing Duck growler on Army win
Washingtonville. Colin Schmitt promised treats from the 99th Assembly District if the Black Knights lost Saturday's historic Army-Navy football game. (They did.)
Assemblyman Colin J. Schmitt (R-New Windsor) promised Assemblyman Dan Stec (R-Queensbury) a bunch of treats from New York's 99th Assembly District if Army lost Saturday's Army-Navy football game.
Gather those goodies, Schmitt. Navy won, 31-7.
Schmitt, an active member of the Army National Guard who also represents West Point in the state Assembly, has put his wager behind the Black Knights. He will present Stec with a growler from Rushing Duck Brewery in Chester, coffee from Noble Coffee Roasters in Hamptonburgh, a bottle of I Love NY wine from Brotherhood Winery in Washingtonville, apple cider donuts from Jones Farm in Cornwall, and pie from Soons Orchard in Wawayanda. He's also promised to wear a Navy hat.
Stec, a Navy veteran representing Whitehall, the birthplace of the U. S. Navy, is a fan of the Midshipmen. If Navy lost he would have presented Schmitt with food and beverage staples of the 114th Assembly District, including cider donuts from Hicks Orchard in Granville, a growler from the Paradox Brewery in Schroon Lake, a pie from the Noonmark Diner in Keene Valley, beef jerky from Oscar’s Smokehouse in Warrensburg, and wine from the Adirondack Winery in Lake George. He has also pledged to wear an Army hat.
"West Point Football has won three in a row against Navy and this year the Black Knights are going to make it four!" said Schmitt before the game.
Better luck next time.
